Desson

ARTISTIC PROCESS
With experience in computer graphic design, illustration and silkscreen production, the artist Desson has been painting for more than twenty years, during which he has developed a unique figurative style. Part of the new wave of Quebec artists, Desson has been in galleries since 2003 where he was quickly recognised and sold more than twenty-five of his works in his first year alone. He is also listed in the artist’s directory, Magazin’art.
Desson’s artistic process starts with a series of preliminary sketches from which he will choose the one he would like to bring to life. He first sketches on canvas with fine lines and then reinforces them with an application of colour, which results in a subject that is defined by strong, angular and intense lines. His choice of colours, which he uses to create emotion, also adds to the orginality of his work and the uniqueness of his style.
Desson’s continual visual research and introspection have added to his constant evolution as an artist. His inspiration comes as much from literary characters, daily life and his love of nature, which results in a lively and prolific creation process.
