Dominique Alain

Dominique Alain was born in Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec. Artistically inclined, she started to use watercolour in 1985, and over the years she has continued to experiment with this medium. Since 1999, she has devoted herself exclusively to this art form.

After attending courses in visual arts at Ste-Foy College, and two sessions of watercolour techniques, Dominique has developed her own style, which is technically original as well as unique in its form. In effect, she demonstrates a remarkable grasp of the different possibilities of the watercolour medium.

Her degree in Quebec literature and literary creation also influences her paintings, as she approaches the watercolour paper in the same way a writer does the blank page, by letting her imagination flow onto its whiteness. In addition, the title of each of her watercolours tells a distinct story.

Dominique Alain is an autodidact artist infused with inspiration and spontaneity, and her whimisical watercolours, the fruits of her imagination and her artistic process, vibrate with colour and a surprising originality!
