Solange Falardeau

Born on the south shore of the St. Lawrence, near Quebec City, Solange Falardeau attended Laval University and earned  a degree in Visual arts. She has been a member of the Canadian Watercolourist Society since 1998, and also teaches visual arts with an emphasis on the importance of being spontaneous and original. Her work has  been shown in important Canadian art galleries since 1996.

Artistic process :
It is my belief that “beauty” is an exclusive effect of the handling of language by the artist.  In my painting, there is the play of colour, form and space, which produces an image  that lies somewhere between  the figurative and  the abstract.
I invite the viewer to be moved by these gestures of colour, and to discover the signs in my work that produce depth.  In essence, I would like the viewer to be transported to a poetic and imaginary world, where he is suspended in time, thus permitting his own interpretation to surface.

My current approach is  the culmination of a continual search devoted to perfecting this technique of diluted acrylic with supporting medium, gestures and opacity.  In effect, my work deals with the soul, body, matter and spirit.
