Jean Barry

Born in 1947 in Quebec City, Jean Barry attended his first oil painting class with artist Hans Peter Beer in 1995. Later, he completed his art study with Dianne Papillon, also in Quebec City.

Jean is very attracted by the pure lines of  country landscapes, and one will notice that horizontal composition prevails in his work. Variations of light and shadow, according to the moment of the day or the season, are also an important part of most of his paintings.

Recently, he has taken part in many art events in the province of Quebec and he won the first prize in the 2001 Kamouraska Art Symposium, in the “oil – professional artist” category.

The lower St. Lawrence, Côte-du-Sud, especially Kamouraska and l’Isle-Verte (Green Island), and sometimes “Vieux-Quebec” scenes are the inspiration for most of his creations.
