Fleurette Sauvageau

(Artist’s statement)

« The background of a painting is the soul of its foreground. »

From a very young age, Fleurette has always felt like an artist, and early on she discovered her talent for sketching and painting. She experimented with charcoal and pastel and mastered these techniques doing portraits in which she excels at capturing the subject’s attitude and emotion.  Studying under Pierre Lanoie, from Québec City, has helped her develop her artistic vision.

As part of her artistic process, Fleurette also works in ink and watercolour with which she has created a very personal world  that she calls her Romantic Sketches.  These sketches blend imagination and reality and transport the observer to a different era. Today, she depicts this poetic world, which clearly fascinates and inspires her, using acrylic and a very gestural style.
