On Tuesday October 25 2011 took place LA LUTTE DES PROS, a fund-raising event aimed at research for prostate cancer,at the Capitole de Québec. The $35 000 that were earned will go to a fund at the Hôtel-Dieu-de-Québec hospital that is entirely dedicated to research for prostate cancer in Québec city.
About 100 guests attended the corporate cocktail during which a silent auction took place. The Galerie Le Chien d'Or was there to give a silk-screen printing by the artist LEMIEU, who passed away last April 19 from prostate cancer, as well as an original painting by the artist Desson, whom father has been battling prostate cancer for 10 years.
Many well-known public figures attended the event: Jean Pagé, the guest of honour, Jacques Rougeau, one of the event's spokespersons and host of the wrestling show, as well as Martin Paquette, the tallest man of the province (7'3"). Dr Vincent Fradet, urologist-oncologist at the au Centre hospitalier universitaire de Québec (CHUQ) and another event's spokesperson, took the floor to raise the public's, in particular men', awareness of the importance of prostate cancer screening.
The Galerie Le Chien d'Or congratulates Sarah-Maude Joly and her team for the organization of this fund-raising event and warmly thanks Hélène Tardif, LEMIEU's wife and to Desson for their generous donation.
